Allendale Senior Living has introduced the Journeys Memory Care model, an innovative, comprehensive, and person-centered program designed to set a new standard in memory care. The program is now operational at the continuum of care campus located at 85 Harreton Road in Allendale.
The new initiative is being overseen by Dr. Jatinder S. Sawhney, a board-certified expert in geriatric medicine with 40 years of industry experience.
The Journeys Memory Care model, which was designed by memory care experts and is available to clients of Marquis Health Consulting Services, features a standardized approach to care delivery, practice, and management.
The dedicated memory care neighborhood at Allendale Senior Living had to meet a rigorous set of criteria for designation. These standards cover multiple benchmarks, including:
- The physical plant environment.
- Evidence-based care delivery.
- Caregiver experience and education.
- Stage-specific life enrichment programming and dining.
Under Dr. Sawhney’s leadership, the program will focus on supporting residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs, helping them maintain the highest possible level of function and independence within a safe and secure environment. Dedicated care teams are specifically trained in communication techniques like validation, ensuring understanding, compassion, and support throughout each resident’s day.
Elevating quality of life
Daniel Silva, executive director of Allendale Senior Living, stated that Journeys was developed in response to the increasing demand for coordinated, higher-acuity memory care services.

Dr. Sawhney, who is affiliated with Valley Health System, brings a compassionate, multidisciplinary approach that focuses on comprehensive geriatric assessment to improve patients’ quality of life, independence, and overall health outcomes.
