The American Water Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the nation’s largest regulated water utility, announced today it has awarded $200,000 in “One Water Street” grants to 20 nonprofit organizations across the Camden community.
The funding is part of the Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which prioritizes projects centered on three pillars: Water, People, and Communities. These grants are specifically tailored to high-impact initiatives in Camden, the city that has hosted American Water’s corporate headquarters since 2018.
Among the 2025 recipients is the Center for Aquatic Sciences, a long-standing partner that uses the funding to fuel its Community and Urban Science Enrichment (CAUSE) program. This initiative empowers local teens to lead environmental education efforts, including free summer science camps and on-water programs for the Camden community.
“This funding empowers CAUSE teens to engage the Camden community through free science summer camps and on-water environmental education programs,” Barbara Kelly, president and CEO of the Center for Aquatic Sciences said. Over the past seven years, the Foundation has invested a total of $280,000 into the CAUSE program alone.
The 2025 grant cycle further cements American Water’s role as a primary driver of social impact in Camden. According to the company’s 2024 Camden Community Investment Report, the collective contributions from American Water, New Jersey American Water, and the Charitable Foundation have surpassed $8 million since 2018.
