Caregility Corporation, a Wall-based enterprise telehealth leader, and Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions have announced a strategic partnership to revolutionize nursing education by integrating virtual care training and connected care technology directly into Drexel’s programs.
Caregility is donating equipment and use of its award-winning Caregility Connected Care™ platform to give students crucial hands-on experience with digital health tools, simulating patient engagement in virtual environments.
Preparing nurses for the digital future
The collaboration aims to address a critical gap in nursing education: preparing students for the increasing use of virtual nursing and AI-powered solutions in modern healthcare. The goal is to develop competency in the interface between patients and technology to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
“By embedding virtual care technologies into simulation, we’re equipping students with real-world, hands-on experience in digital health environments,” Kym Montgomery, senior associate dean of nursing and chief nursing academic officer at Drexel University said. “This forward-thinking approach ensures our graduates enter the workforce not only practice-ready but prepared to lead innovation in patient care.”
Caregility will provide the university with smart bedside devices and access to its platform, which features responsible AI technology utilizing computer vision, ambient listening, and contactless sensors to enhance caregiver insights from the patient room.
A vital academic-practice partnership
Caregility’s Chief Nursing Officer, Susan Kristiniak, stressed the importance of this academic-practice partnership.
“Digital health is permeating every aspect of care for both inpatient and outpatient settings, and nurses are our primary users of the technology,” Kristiniak said. “It is vital to prepare these students for what they will undoubtedly be using upon graduation.”
The partnership distinguishes Drexel University’s nursing program by enhancing its state-of-the-art simulation environment to foster the development of “practice-ready nurses,” according to Kate Morse, assistant dean of Simulation and Innovation at Drexel.
Drexel University will commemorate the official launch of the new simulation environment with a ribbon-cutting event on Oct. 15. The university was recently recognized for its leadership in this field, having received the Community Impact Award at the 2025 Caregility Customer Connect Summit.
