Hoboken-based public relations firm Caryl Communications is gaining a significant seat at the global table. Sandy Crisafulli, president of the award-winning agency, has been named to the executive committee of PR Boutiques International (PRBI), a growing peer network of independent PR firms spanning North and South America and Europe.
In her new role, Crisafulli will lend her decades of industry experience to support the overall strategy and operations of PRBI, helping the network achieve its mission of blending personalized, boutique service with a vital global perspective.
Caryl Communications, which boasts a 41-year history of serving businesses and nonprofits in the greater New Jersey/New York marketplace, became a member of PRBI in 2024.
“PRBI members are experts in the field, and the group’s spirit of collaboration and knowledge-sharing is such a powerful asset for both Caryl Communications and our clients,” Crisafulli said. “Change and opportunity are the current headlines for the PR industry. It is an honor to be involved in a network committed to exploring emerging tools and innovations and working together to adapt strategically. I look forward to contributing as part of the Executive Committee.”
Bolstering global reach with local expertise
PRBI is composed of more than 25 firms, celebrated for providing clients across various industries with high-level expertise, efficiency, and personal attention.
Julia Labaton, PRBI president, welcomed Crisafulli, stating, “Our exceptional member agencies — led by industry veterans like Sandy — underscore PRBI’s impact as a worldwide network with the nuanced understanding of local markets. Each brings deep expertise and insight, expanding the value we provide to clients around the world.”
Crisafulli’s journey to this national leadership role is rooted in the New Jersey/New York region. After beginning her career as a journalist, she joined Caryl Communications in 1992. She ascended through senior roles, focusing on account management and media relations, before being appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2020. Crisafulli became the firm’s second owner in 2022 following the retirement of Founder Caryl Bixon-Gordon.
Caryl Communications has been consistently recognized for its excellence, including receiving the prestigious Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Anvil Award of Excellence and numerous PRSA-NJ Pyramid Awards. Its appointment to the PRBI Executive Committee further solidifies the Hoboken firm’s standing as a major player in the evolving world of public relations.
