Eos Energy and Unico form 5-year partnership for U.S.-made energy storage solutions

Eos Energy Enterprises, an Edison-based leader in long-duration energy storage systems together with Wisconsin-based Unico on Monday announced a multi-year strategic partnership to enhance the efficiency and performance of U.S.-made clean energy infrastructure.

The five-year agreement, signed in April 2025, marks the launch of Unico’s new product line: ultra-compact and efficient DC-to-DC power converters. These cutting-edge converters are specifically designed to meet the demanding performance and cost requirements of the growing energy storage market.

The state-of-the-art power converters will be integrated with Eos’ Z3 Znyth™ aqueous zinc battery systems, which are designed and manufactured at the company’s facility in Edison, New Jersey. The integration is expected to maximize the delivery of available energy to the customer, setting a new standard for power conversion systems in the LDES space.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Eos to deliver innovative energy storage solutions,” Mike Canada, CEO of Unico said. “By combining Unico’s engineered power electronics with their unique zinc battery technology, we’re enabling more resilient, sustainable energy infrastructure responsibly and reliably.”

Unico’s new design leverages high-speed switching controls and advanced algorithms for SiC and GaN devices to achieve industry-leading efficiency, compactness, and power density, adding to the company’s 50-year legacy of Made in America products.

Aligning with domestic manufacturing goals

The partnership strongly aligns with federal clean energy objectives and domestic sourcing incentives, as both companies design and manufacture their core products in the United States.

Pranesh Rao, SVP of Storage Systems Engineering at Eos Energy Enterprises, noted that the combination of technologies creates a superior offering. “DawnOS, Eos’ proprietary controls, software and analytics platform, combines the Z3 batteries and controls with Unico’s products giving our customers one of the safest, most scalable, efficient, and sustainable energy storage options available.”

The alliance between the Wisconsin-based power electronics veteran and the New Jersey-based zinc battery innovator is poised to showcase how manufacturing leadership in the clean energy sector can be sustained and scaled domestically.
