Eric Lazar of Valley Health System has been reappointed as Governor-at-Large to the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons, his second term in this position.
Lazar will serve a three-year term on the Board. As Governor at Large, he serves as the direct communication link between the Fellows of the College and the members of the Board of Governors.
Lazar is a pediatric surgeon who is board certified in general and pediatric surgery. He specializes in a variety of pediatric areas, including newborn congenital anomalies, medical emergencies, and routine surgical care. He currently is chair of surgical services for Valley Medical Group and program director of the general surgery residency program, in partnership with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Lazar explained what it means to serve again.
“I am honored to have been reappointed as Governor-at-Large to serve the ACS for another term,” says Dr. Lazar. “The American College of Surgeons is globally the foremost authority on surgical quality and care. That a Valley physician is representing New Jersey at an executive level nationally is an important recognition of the quality of surgical care that Valley represents.”
