Sharp Home Electronics Company of America (SHCA) announced a major leadership transition Tuesday, as longtime President James Sanduski prepares to retire after a distinguished 41-year career. Grace Dolan, the Montvale-based company’s current senior vice president of marketing, has been named his successor and will assume the presidency on April 1.
The announcement follows a year-long succession planning process designed to maintain the company’s momentum in the competitive home appliance market. Sanduski, who has spent 14 years at Sharp, will officially step down on March 31, though he will remain in an advisory capacity through June to ensure a smooth handover.
Under Sanduski’s leadership, Sharp solidified its position as a major player in the American kitchen. He is credited with the significant market expansion of the Sharp Microwave Drawer™ Oven and for transforming Sharp into the only Japanese brand in the U.S. to offer a full suite of major kitchen appliances.
“Jim has shaped Sharp in meaningful ways, and we are deeply grateful for the strong foundation he leaves behind,” Jeff Ashida, chairman and CEO of Sharp Electronics Corporation said. “His commitment to our people and customers has been instrumental.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Sanduski called his time leading SHCA “the privilege of a lifetime,” noting that the timing felt right to step away given the organization’s current strength.
Meanwhile, Dolan joined Sharp last August, bringing a high-profile resume with previous leadership roles at Samsung, Frontier Communications, and Johnson & Johnson. Since her arrival, she has worked closely with Sanduski to prepare for the transition.
As President, Dolan will oversee:
-
Sales and marketing: Continuing her work with the Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America (SEMCA).
-
Manufacturing: Direct oversight of the Memphis, TN, appliance manufacturing facility.
-
Service solutions: Management of the service and support groups in Tennessee and New Jersey.
“I am honored to step into this role,” Dolan said. “I look forward to leading SHCA into its next chapter, unlocking new opportunities that will serve our customers for years to come.”
