Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health announced a series of key medical leadership appointments, naming Dr. Jessica Scerbo as the permanent chair of pediatrics for K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Scerbo, who has served as the interim chair for the past 18 months, was also appointed regional pediatric chair for Hackensack Meridian Health’s Southern Region. Alongside her new leadership responsibilities, she will continue in her role as section chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Under her direction, that division has seen substantial growth in clinical trial access, patient volume, and clinical research.
During her tenure, Scerbo has been highly involved in elevating the academic and clinical profiles of K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.
The network also announced the appointment of two other prominent specialists to top programmatic roles:

Dr. Richard Sultan has been appointed chief of Pediatric Neuroscience at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital. Sultan is an experienced pediatric neurologist specializing in the care of children with complex neurological conditions, including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and developmental seizure disorders.

Dr. Meghan Tozzi has been named chief of Pediatric Cardiology at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. Tozzi is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist whose clinical focus centers on diagnosing and managing congenital heart disease, preventive cardiology and cardiomyopathy.
Network leadership noted that these strategic appointments are part of an ongoing initiative to reinforce advanced pediatric specialty care, expanding access to complex medical services for families across the state.
