It’s that time of year. High school seniors realize college applications are coming due — and most still don’t have a clue as to where they should go.
Perhaps they should consider a hidden gem?
That’s the purpose behind College Raptor’s Hidden Gem College Rankings.
The rankings, released Wednesday, are done in partnership with Citizens Bank. The highlight the schools in the U.S. that often are overlooked or unheralded — but just one in each of the 50 states.
For New Jersey, the Florham Campus of FDU was selected.
The writeup of the school noted the 80% first-year retention rate — as well as the wide variety of majors (everything from psychology to cinematography and film/video production to business administration.
We’re guessing the picturesque campus helped, too.
Hidden Gems are based on College Raptor’s overall national rankings and must meet the following criteria:
- Receive fewer than 5,000 applications per year;
- Have fewer than 7,000 undergraduate students;
- Offer 5 or more unique majors;
- Have a 10% acceptance rate or higher;
- Rank within the top half of College Raptor’s overall rankings.
Here’s where you can check out the list of hidden gems from all 50 states.
And here’s where you can learn more about FDU, which has a campus in Teaneck as well as Florham Park.
