In a continuing effort to deliver world-class care in a compassionate and convenient setting, Hackensack Meridian Health has expanded its comprehensive cancer care services at the JFK University Medical Center in Edison.
The new building, located at 80 James Street, doubles the number of infusion suites available to patients while offering expanded space for surgical, medical and oncology services. The facility is designed to support seamless collaboration among specialists, ensuring a patient-centered approach to cancer treatment.
The expansion was made possible by a $14 million investment aimed at enhancing access to advanced cancer treatment, providing patients with expert-led, multidisciplinary care close to home. Additionally, a $1 million gift by the Sarala Bathena Foundation will allow eligible patients receiving care at the center to secure financial assistance.
Hackensack Meridian Health CEO Bob Garrett spoke positively of the expansion.
“The expansion at 80 James Street strengthens our ability to provide cutting-edge treatment and personalized care for our patients,” he said. “We are grateful to our partners who helped make this new facility a reality, and to donors like the Bathena’s who so generously keep our patients’ needs top of mind.”
In addition to cancer services, this new facility offers other surgical services including:
- Surgical oncology and specialty surgery
- Colorectal surgery
- Endocrine surgery
- Gender-affirming surgery
- Head and neck surgery
- Orthopedic oncology
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Surgical oncology
- Thoracic surgeons and pulmonologists in the Advanced Lung and Airway Center
- Medical oncology and hematology
- Infusion suite
- Radiation oncology
Patients also have convenient access to state-of-the-art radiation therapy services across the street at JFK University Medical Center.
Executive Vice President Regina Foley highlighted the different areas of the facility.
“The strength of this new facility lies in our multidisciplinary approach,” she said. “By bringing together experts from various specialties under one roof, we can offer patients a truly integrated and personalized treatment plan, ensuring they receive the most comprehensive care possible, close to home.”
