Hudson Technologies, Inc., a Woodcliff Lake-based leader in sustainable refrigerant products and services, announced on Tuesday that chairman and chief executive officer Brian Coleman has stepped down, effective immediately.
The announcement follows a successful tenure for Coleman, who led the company since June 2020. The leadership change comes as the company reports preliminary Third Quarter 2025 results that include a 20% revenue growth and a 59% jump in net income, highlighting the strength of the foundation he helped solidify.
Coleman, who first joined the company as chief financial officer in 1997, is credited by the Board for successfully navigating the company through a period of transition, specifically after the unexpected passing of founder Kevin Zugibe in June 2020.
“During his tenure, particularly in the difficult time after the passing of our founder Kevin Zugibe, Brian’s leadership and financial acumen allowed the company to further strengthen its competitive positioning in the marketplace while also transforming its balance sheet,” Vincent Abbatecola, lead independent director of Hudson Technologies said.
The company, one of the nation’s largest refrigerant reclaimers, has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the environment and its customers, a legacy established by Zugibe, who was instrumental in pioneering the U.S. refrigerant reclamation industry from its roots in the New York metropolitan area.
Hudson Technologies, which provides refrigerant management services, advanced separation technology, and energy monitoring, reported highly positive preliminary results for the quarter ended September 30, 2025:
- Revenue Growth: Expected to reach $74.0 million, marking a 20% increase over the same quarter in 2024.
- Net Income Growth: Expected to climb 59% to $12.4 million, or $0.27 per diluted share.
- Gross Margin: Anticipated at a robust 32%.
With its strong financial position and “attractive long-term industry tailwinds,” the board is now focused on the next phase of growth, which will include both organic and inorganic opportunities.
Until a permanent successor is named, Brian Bertaux, the company’s chief financial officer, will assume the responsibilities of chief executive officer on an interim basis. The board is in “late-stage evaluation and conversation” with candidates and expects to announce an appointment in the near term.
Hudson Technologies remains a vital player in the HVAC&R industry, known for its sustainable and innovative solutions like EMERALD Refrigerants™ and its RefrigerantSide® Services.
