MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford is upgrading its fan experience with a series of enhancements ahead of the 2025 NFL season.
The season will kick off with a preseason game on Aug. 16 between the hometown Jets and Giants, as part of a record-breaking summer of events.
Upgrades in place for the start of the NFL season include four new cornerstone video boards, a brand-new audio system, an updated distributed antenna system that will increase 5G cellular capacity and coverage and the installation of two sensory pods.
The cornerstone video boards are the first phase in replacing all LED video and digital inventory throughout the stadium which feature an improved 8MM high-resolution LED for higher-contrast, crisp on-screen content and better viewing angles.
The stadium’s new audio system encompasses more than 1,000 new loudspeakers installed in the main seating bowl, including updated subwoofers which aims for improved sound clarity for game action and announcements, as well as a richer, enhanced audio atmosphere.
Verizon has increased 5G cellular capacity and coverage in the seating bowl, as well as all the club seating and on the field.
The stadium has installed two sensory pods designed to reduce sensory overload and will continue to provide sensory bags containing noise-cancelling equipment for checkout at any Guest Services Booth or Concierge Desk located throughout the Stadium.
Further, work will continue throughout this year to replace the tunnel entrance boards, the sideline-facing game-in-progress screens, the 360° fascia ribbon board, and the remaining video boards and displays on the concourses, plazas, and fan activation zones with an completed date aimed at early 2026.
Metlife Stadium will host 40 events this summer, and is estimated to have more than 1.9 million attendees. This includes 23 concerts (a record), nine FIFA Club World Cup matches, the most matches of any venue for the tournament, as well as the final between Chelsea and PSG.
This of course all culminates with the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming to MetLife Stadium. The tournament will feature eight matches and includes the final on July 19, 2026.
