Puratos acquires Vör Foods to accelerate clean-label nut innovation in South Jersey

Pennsauken-based firm expands U.S. manufacturing capabilities and positions itself to meet the rising global demand for ultra-clean-label nut fillings and viral chocolate trends.

Puratos, a global leader in bakery, patisserie, and chocolate ingredients, announced the acquisition of Vör Foods, a Pennsylvania-based producer specializing in ultra-clean-label nut butters and fillings.

The strategic move, announced Thursday at Puratos’ U.S. headquarters in Pennsauken, strengthens the company’s North American manufacturing footprint and directly addresses the explosive consumer demand for nut-based “sweet goods” innovation.

The acquisition arrives at a critical time for the confectionery industry. Market trends are currently being driven by “Dubai-style” chocolate—a viral sensation featuring thick chocolate shells filled with a signature mixture of crunchy toasted kataifi and rich pistachio or hazelnut cream.

By integrating Vör Foods’ dedicated, SQF-certified nut facility in Trevose, PA—located just 35 minutes from Pennsauken—Puratos can now produce these high-demand fillings locally. This proximity significantly improves lead times and traceability for North American manufacturers looking to capitalize on viral food trends.

“The Vör team brings craftsmanship, agility, and impressive speed,” Andy Brimacombe, president of Puratos North America said. “Their expertise and U.S. nut facility make them a strong strategic fit for Puratos, enhancing our ability to support customers with reliable, high-quality ingredients.”

Founded in 2016, Vör Foods built its reputation on “ultra clean-label” formulations—products made without the artificial emulsifiers or stabilizers often found in industrial fillings. Their portfolio includes:

  • Premium nut butters: Pistachio, hazelnut, almond, cashew, and custom blends.

  • Engineered fillings: Formulations designed specifically for industrial scale-up in bakeries and chocolate production.

  • U.S.-sourced ingredients: A focus on domestic sourcing to ensure supply chain resilience.

“Joining Puratos opens an exciting new chapter,” Frank Steck, CEO of Vör Foods said. “Together, we can bring even greater value to our customers by combining Vör’s nut expertise with Puratos’ scale and industry network.”

As part of the integration, Puratos plans to invest immediately in Vör’s Trevose equipment and capacity. This expansion aligns with Puratos’ broader mission of “moving the planet forward” through health-conscious and sustainable food solutions.

The Trevose facility will serve as a hub for technical collaboration, allowing Puratos’ R&D teams to exchange best practices and rapidly prototype new nut-based innovations for large-scale industrial bakeries and artisan chocolatiers alike.
