Hudson Regional Health is a system of four acute care facilities that operated as a network: Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, Bayonne Medical Center, Hoboken University Medical Center, and Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
Following the example of the flagship Hudson Regional Hospital, the three other recently affiliated hospitals are undergoing a transformation that aims to give Hudson County high-quality, compassionate health c re services, advanced medical education, and innovative treatments to its diverse community.
CEO Dr. Nizar Kifaieh said the brand is on a mission to build healthier communities by providing exceptional care for all patients through a significant investment in new technology, led by the Institute of Robotic Surgery in Secaucus, featuring the Da Vinci XI Robotic System, ExcelsiusGPS and the Mazor Robotic Guidance System and access to more physician groups including some of the best physicians in the NYC-metro area.
Among other notable attributes, the network’s ER team covers all EMS services and provides around-the-clock comprehensive emergency care services that include short wait times, EMS/Ambulance On-Site 24/7, a fully equipped EMS Lounge, 24/7 Access to Specialty Physicians and a multi-lingual staff.
Kifaieh recently participated in a Q&A to provide more details on their plans.
A look:
BINJE: Hudson Regional Health is now the fourth-largest health system in New Jersey and the fastest growing. What does that mean for patients?
NIZAR KIFAIEH: Growth isn’t just about scale — it’s about impact. Being the fourth-largest health system in New Jersey allows us to deliver broader access to advanced care while investing in the things that matter most to our patients: modern facilities, top-tier physicians, and the latest clinical technologies. Our goal is to create a system where care is seamless across locations and where innovation directly translates into better outcomes for the patient we serve.
BINJE: What does the HRH mission mean in practice?
NK: The mission of Hudson Regional Health is to deliver consistent, connected and cutting-edge care while serving as a trusted, long-term partner to the communities we serve. In practice, that means investing in advanced medical technologies, expanding access to specialty care, and improving clinical outcomes.
But it also means supporting community health beyond the hospital walls — through outreach programs, education initiatives, and strategic partnerships. We are building a health system that brings together innovation and a deep commitment to the people we care for
BINJE: What types of improvements will patients and staff see at HRH hospitals?
NK: The Hudson Regional Health network is currently undergoing plans for physical upgrades aimed at creating a more modern, patient-centered environment. Proposed renovations include updated surgical suites, reimagined emergency departments, enhanced patient rooms, and more accessible, welcoming lobbies.
These improvements are designed not only to elevate the patient experience but also to provide our staff with the infrastructure and support they need to deliver exceptional care. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to creating facilities that reflect the high standards of service and comfort our communities deserve.
BINJE: What investments are being made in technology and innovation?
NK: Technology and innovation are central to how Hudson Regional Health is redefining care across our network. We are actively deploying advanced tools to improve outcomes, increase efficiency, and enhance the patient experience. These include robotic-assisted surgery with the Da Vinci XI system, AI-powered diagnostics in radiology to support earlier and more accurate detection, and real-time patient monitoring technologies that improve safety and care coordination.
Earlier this month, we completed our first Stealth Navigation-guided cranial surgery — a milestone that reflects the type of high-acuity care we’re bringing closer to home. These innovations represent the new standard of care we are establishing system-wide.
BINJE: What is your long-term vision for Hudson Regional Health?
NK: Our long-term vision is to build the most advanced, accessible, and community-driven healthcare system in New Jersey.
We want Hudson Regional Health to be recognized for delivering consistent, high-quality care powered by innovation — while remaining deeply connected to the communities we serve. That means ongoing investment in infrastructure, staff development, and expanding access across our network. Our goal is to redefine what community-based health care can achieve, setting a higher standard for the future of care in Hudson County and beyond.
