SJI and employees donate over $325K to nonprofits for Giving Tuesday

In a powerful display of community support for Giving Tuesday, SJI announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with its workforce to donate more than $325,000 to local, regional, and statewide nonprofit organizations.

The substantial contribution was driven by SJI’s annual Employee Giving Campaign, which empowers the company’s more than 1,200 employees to pledge monetary donations to selected charities.

To maximize the impact of these contributions, SJI provided a dollar-for-dollar match for all employee pledges.

“This year, our employees raised a significant number of donations,” Mike Renna, president and CEO of SJI said. “I’m incredibly proud of our employees’ generosity and our shared commitment to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

The 2025 campaign benefits five key organizations tackling issues ranging from food insecurity to environmental conservation:

  • Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ)

  • New Jersey Veterans Network

  • The Nature Conservancy

  • The South Jersey Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE)

  • New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC)

Leaders from the recipient organizations expressed profound gratitude for the support, highlighting how the funds will directly impact their missions.

“We are honored by the generosity of SJI’s employees,” Elizabeth McCarthy, president & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey said, noting that the donation will help provide more meals to neighbors in need during times of uncertainty.

Frank “Doc” Schupp, director of Veteran Outreach for the New Jersey Veterans Network, added that the donation “not only strengthens our mission to serve our veterans but also exemplifies the true spirit of community and compassion.”

This Giving Tuesday initiative is part of SJI’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility. In addition to this campaign, SJI and its subsidiaries, South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas, regularly support local medical agencies, first responders, youth recreation programs, and economic development organizations.
