Somos, Inc., the East Brunswick administrator of North American phone numbering and registry data, on Tuesday announced the strategic appointment of Katia Gonzalez as Head of Global Public Policy Strategy. The move underscores Somos’ intensifying focus on cross-border collaboration to restore trust in telecommunications.
Gonzalez, a veteran with over 20 years of experience in fraud prevention and security advocacy, will lead Somos’ international policy initiatives. Her role involves bridging the gap between rapidly evolving technology and the regulatory frameworks needed to combat sophisticated robocalling, spoofing, and messaging fraud.
Gonzalez joins Somos following a high-profile tenure as Head of Public Policy at Proximus Global and several leadership roles at BICS, where she chaired the i3forum Fight Fraud workgroup. Her career has been defined by her ability to align Tier-1 carriers and international regulators against the billion-dollar global fraud industry.

Somos is the FCC-appointed administrator for several critical national databases. The addition of Gonzalez comes at a time when the “Cost of Trust” is rising for financial institutions and brands alike.
Through its subsidiary XConnect, Somos manages phone number intelligence for hundreds of datasets worldwide. Gonzalez’s appointment is expected to accelerate XConnect’s global policy alignment, particularly as the telecommunications ecosystem shifts toward IoT asset security and AI-driven identity management.
