Student Transportation of America, a leader in student transportation and fleet services, has announced a significant milestone, entering the new operating year with more than $100 million in annual revenue growth.
This substantial increase is attributed to a successful strategy combining strategic acquisitions, securing new contract bid wins across the U.S. and Canada and the accelerated expansion of its industrial busing solutions — a new vertical for the company in the U.S. market.
STA’s growth has resulted in an expanded service footprint, including new market entries into Michigan, Ohio and Nevada.
Acquisitions and expanded footprint
“This period of disciplined growth reflects STA’s commitment to strategically expanding our transportation services,” Gene Kowalczewski, CEO of the Wall Township-based STA, said. “By growing our reach into new states, securing additional district contracts and expanding our expertise in employee and industrial transportation to the United States, we are broadening our service footprint.”
STA has significantly extended its operational reach across Michigan, New York, Ohio and Ontario, Canada, through recent acquisitions of established operators. These include:
- Cook School Bus Lines (Eastern Ontario, Canada), serving Wellington County.
- ABC Student Transportation (Detroit), a full-service provider in Wayne County.
- Star & Strand Transportation (Troy, New York), serving the state’s Capital Region.
- Universal Transportation Systems (West Chester Township, Ohio), specializing in school and nonemergency medical transportation in the Cincinnati and Columbus areas.
Under each agreement, STA is working closely with the original personnel to ensure minimal disruption and to leverage local expertise, a foundational element of the company’s service model.
New contract wins bolster national reach
In addition to acquisitions, STA has secured several new district contracts for the 2025-2026 school year. These wins further strengthen its national presence with new agreements in California, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.
In Canada, Student Transportation of Canada has added contract agreements with new schools in Alberta, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan, broadening its customer base and commitment to safe, reliable service across North America.
Kowalczewski concluded, “As we welcome new customers and expand our roster, we remain committed to the values that have guided us from the start — safety, reliability and building strong local relationships that ensure every community receives the highest level of service.”
