The Valley Hospital earns national cancer accreditation from American College of Surgeons

The Valley Hospital has proudly announced it has achieved reaccreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program. This esteemed national recognition underscores Valley’s ongoing dedication to delivering high-quality, patient-centered cancer care.

Meeting rigorous quality standards

The ACS CoC accreditation is awarded to institutions that successfully meet more than 30 rigorous quality standards spanning the full spectrum of cancer services. This achievement affirms Valley’s commitment to offering comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered care through the use of evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement. To ensure standards are maintained, cancer programs must undergo a comprehensive site visit every three years. The CoC standards provide the essential structure for providing all patients with a full range of diagnostic, treatment, and supportive services, including community-based resources.

Commitment to quality care recognized

“This accreditation is a testament to the dedication of our cancer care team,” stated Dr. Ephraim Casper, chief medical officer of Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care and chair of Oncology Services for Valley Medical Group. “Meeting these rigorous standards shows our commitment to delivering the highest quality of comprehensive and patient-centered care. We are proud to offer advanced cancer services close to home that meet our patients’ needs.”

New surgical quality partner designation

With the reaccreditation, The Valley Hospital also gains the designation of an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. This signifies the institution’s commitment to consistently improving procedures and approaches while rigorously scrutinizing processes at every step.

Dr. Patricia Turner, executive director and chief executive officer, noted that ACS Quality programs are “grounded in more than a century of experience.” She added, “As an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, The Valley Hospital has shown a commitment to providing the best possible patient care, evaluating that care in a rigorous fashion, and dedicating themselves to continuous self-improvement.”

The Surgical Quality Partner designation assures patients that The Valley Hospital is dedicated to quality and that the care they receive adheres to the most rigorous national standards in surgical quality.
