Most Shop Rite stores will soon have two new products on their shelves. Parent company Wakefern Food Corp. has selected two CPG products from female-owned companies as the winners of the coop group’s Local Supplier Summit.
Day Out Protein Balls and Vesucre Vegan Desserts, were both entered in the summit in 2024. The products are available at most ShopRite stores and will potentially be available soon at other Wakefern supermarket banners
Becky Dheri, a pharmacist turned food entrepreneur from Fair Haven, founded Day Out in 2019 to provide convenient, healthy snacks that combine homemade flavor with nutrient-dense ingredients. Her bite-sized protein balls, naturally sweetened and available in flavors like cinnamon bun and brownie batter, are perfect for busy, health-conscious individuals.
Sarah Hartmann, based in Oneonta, NY, founded Vesucre to bring indulgent plant-based frozen desserts to life. Her vegan treats, free from dairy, soy, gluten and refined sugar, offer a creamy, guilt-free alternative to traditional ice cream.
Vesucre can be found in the Frozen Food Aisle at most ShopRite stores and Day Out snacks in the Grocery Nutritional Aisle.
Wakefern’s Total Store Local Supplier Summit is a program designed to identify and support local suppliers who create exceptional products. Both Dheri and Hartmann impressed the judges with their creations while displaying their dedication, determination and strong ties to their communities through their women-owned businesses. These qualities earned their products a place at ShopRite and, potentially, other Wakefern Food Corp. supermarket banners. Wakefern is the largest retailer-owned supermarket cooperative in the U.S. with family-owned member companies that operate stores under the ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Dearborn Market, Di Bruno Bros., Gourmet Garage and Fairway Market banners.
“At Wakefern, we’re passionate about championing local businesses and supporting entrepreneurs who inspire others with their stories,” Darren Caudill, chief sales officer for Wakefern said. “We are thrilled to introduce Day Out and Vesucre products to our customers starting this June. Both Becky and Sarah are creating more than just great products — they are also making a positive impact in their communities.”
