Watkins, creator of Black Business School, to be keynote speaker at AACCNJ’s Juneteenth Business Expo

Boyce Watkins, the founder of the Black Business School, which aims to empower individuals to build a strong Black economy through real-world application, low cost and convenient education, will be the keynote speaker at the third annual Juneteenth Black Business Expo, June 12, at the College of New Jersey.

This year’s event, created by the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey, will be themed “Resilience is our Heritage.”

AACCNJ Founder and CEO John Harmon said it aims to be a dynamic, educational and collaborative event focusing on entrepreneurship and the economic and cultural empowerment of underperforming communities.

The Juneteenth Expo provides a forum to highlight African American entrepreneurs from various business sectors along with corporations, Black-owned businesses, community partners and state agencies, each of which will display their products and services in a transformed exhibit space that incorporates the history of Black Wall Street and Black entrepreneurial excellence, Harmon said.

Watkins fits that profile.

The BBS aims to create a movement of people who are motivated and supported in their pursuit of financial independence and improving the Black community.

“We are pleased with Dr. Watkins’ attendance; it is significant to have his participation at the Juneteenth Black Business Expo,” Harmon said. “His remarks will be timely in the current economic environment. Reciprocity and accountability are our reframe at this time.

“One-off conversation will not get it done. We are committed to providing value in partnership with the public, private and community sectors throughout New Jersey.”

Watkins will speak on the topic of resilience and provide his expertise on legacy, leadership and success during a fireside chat with Harmon.

The expo also will feature a Health Fair presented by Capital Health and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. There will be matchmaking opportunities for business owners; financial planning one-on-one engagements with Prudential Financial; and panel discussions.

Gov. Phil Murphy will be in attendance for the third consecutive year to make remarks as a special guest.
