The American Water Charitable Foundation announced on Tuesday the donation of more than $750,000 to 32 organizations supporting communities that are served by American Water.
This donation was possible through the 2025 Workforce Readiness and STEM Education Grant Programs. These grants are part of the Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. The total award will support high-impact projects and initiatives that further American Water’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
American Water Charitable Foundation President Carrie Williams explained the importance.
“The American Water Charitable Foundation is proud to support organizations that provide access to high-quality training and skills development, as well as educational STEM-focused programs to help prepare future leaders,” she said. “These efforts reflect the Foundation’s ongoing dedication to making a positive impact in communities served by American Water.”
Since 2012, the Foundation has invested more than $20 million in funding through grants and matching gifts to support eligible organizations in communities served by American Water.
Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Lindsay Griffin-Boylan praised the donation and explained what it means.
“We are incredibly grateful to the American Water Charitable Foundation for their generous support of our Luzerne Learns to Work program,” she said. “This investment allows us to provide Luzerne County high school students with critical opportunities to explore career pathways, gain access to workforce development tools, and connect directly with local industries.”
Each application was evaluated on a competitive basis, funding programs with strong impacts and measurable outcomes that align with the Foundation’s funding priorities.
