Atkins Companies on Tuesday announced a major expansion of its third-party property management portfolio. The firm has added five medical office properties owned by Rothman Orthopaedics, totaling 150,000 square feet, to its management roster.
The deal significantly scales Atkins Companies’ third-party management operations, bringing its total managed portfolio to approximately 260,000 square feet.
The new agreement deepens a relationship that began nearly 10 years ago. In 2018, the two firms partnered to develop the Rothman Medical Building in Washington Township. That 40,000-square-foot facility, located within the Washington Square Town Center, serves as a hub for Rothman Orthopaedics, Jefferson Health and AdvoCare Premier OB/GYN.
“Our partnership with Rothman Orthopaedics reflects a shared commitment to spaces that support care delivery and daily operations,” Drew Atkins, vice president at Atkins Companies said. “Decades of experience in healthcare property management have shaped our approach to operating well-maintained, high-performing facilities.”
Under the new contract, Atkins Companies will oversee all daily operations for the five properties, including:
-
Maintenance coordination: Ensuring specialized medical infrastructure remains in peak condition.
-
Financial reporting: Streamlining asset performance and budgeting for ownership.
-
Capital planning: Projecting long-term improvements to maintain Class-A standards.
-
Patient experience: Managing the environment to support high-quality care delivery.
The move comes as specialized medical office buildings (MOBs) continue to be a resilient asset class in the commercial real estate market. Property management in this sector requires a unique understanding of “Life Safety” compliance and the technical needs of surgical and diagnostic suites.
“Our relationship with Atkins Companies is built on a foundation of trust, responsiveness, and shared standards of excellence,” Mayange Kane, CEO of Rothman Orthopaedics said. “We deeply value their expertise as we grow our footprint across the region.”
