BD taps Lanesha Minnix as new executive VP and general counsel

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global titan in medical technology, announced today that Lanesha Minnix has been appointed as executive vice president and general counsel, effective March 16.

The high-profile hire brings a seasoned legal heavyweight to the Franklin Lakes headquarters. Minnix will oversee BD’s global Law Group and Public Affairs, reporting directly to Tom Polen, chairman, CEO, and president of BD. She will also join the BD Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic guidance as the company navigates a complex global regulatory and innovation landscape.

Minnix arrives at BD from Walgreens Boots Alliance, where she served as executive vice president and chief legal officer. Her tenure there was marked by her leadership in the company’s $24 billion take-private transaction—one of the largest ever recorded in the healthcare and retail sectors.

Her experience spans multiple industries, with prior senior executive roles at Ecolab and Flowserve, where she was credited with modernizing global legal functions and strengthening governance frameworks to drive operational efficiency.

“Driving durable growth and innovation in healthcare requires leaders who can enable progress across the enterprise in a dynamic environment,” Polen said. “Lanesha brings the strategic mindset, governance strength and operational discipline to help us reach world-class levels of excellence.”

With over 60,000 employees and a presence in nearly every country, BD delivers billions of medical products annually. Minnix’s role will be pivotal in aligning BD’s legal and public affairs strategies with its core business segments:

  • Medical essentials: High-volume medical supplies.
  • Connected care: Digital health and data-driven clinical solutions.
  • Biopharma systems: Integrated drug delivery platforms.
  • Interventional: Specialized surgical and procedural tools.

Minnix holds a Juris Doctor and an MBA from the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Louis University. Her appointment comes at a time when BD is heavily focused on its “BD2025” strategy—a multi-year initiative to accelerate innovation and drive value through high-growth segments.
