The Bergen County Zoo is preparing to turn green this April as it hosts its 18th Annual Party for the Planet. The two-day extravaganza, scheduled for April 25 and April 26, offers residents a high-energy way to celebrate Earth Day through education, hands-on activities, and wildlife conservation.

Located within the scenic Van Saun County Park, the “Party for the Planet” is structured to provide both deep learning and family-friendly entertainment:
- Saturday, April 25 (10:00 AM – 4:30 PM): The focus is on Education and Outreach. Visitors can engage with various local conservation organizations at dedicated tables to learn about sustainability projects and how to protect New Jersey’s native species.
- Sunday, April 26 (10:00 AM – 4:30 PM): The focus shifts to Interactive Fun. The zoo will host a variety of activities, games, and prizes designed to involve guests of all ages in the mission of planet preservation.
“Party for the Planet is the best place to learn about all the work our zoo and other organizations do to help conserve and protect our planet,” Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco said. “Don’t miss out on all the fun activities and engaging programs right at home!”
Under the leadership of Zoo Administrator Harry Peachey and Education Team lead Melissa Czinn, the event has evolved into a cornerstone of Bergen County’s environmental calendar. The zoo’s mission extends beyond displaying animals; it aims to instill a sense of appreciation for the delicate balance of the natural world.
“Our parks and open spaces are among our greatest assets,” Commissioner Chairman Steve Tanelli said. “Events like this bring our community together while simultaneously reinforcing our shared commitment to protecting Bergen County’s natural beauty.”
