Better in Blue Jeans? Big SNOW tackled denim debate on National New Jersey Day

Indoor slopes at American Dream celebrated state’s big day with a uniquely Garden State promotion

What’s the perfect thing to do when National New Jersey Day falls on a hot, humid day?

Go skiing.

In jeans.

Don’t worry, we’ll explain.

Big SNOW at American Dream, dubbed North America’s only indoor ski attraction, always is offering creative ways to capture customers.

On Sunday – National New Jersey Day for those scoring at home – it didn’t disappoint. The venue offered half-price tickets to anyone who came to ski the indoor slopes in denim.

While some may raise an eyebrow at the idea of skiing in jeans, New Jerseyans know it’s a tradition woven into the fabric of Garden State culture. From cargo jeans to acid wash, or your favorite pair of 501s from a generation ago, wearing jeans on the slopes is all about attitude.

At least that’s the way Amiana Tyransky, the resort marketing manager at Big SNOW American Dream, saw it.

Tyransky said this slightly rebellious style has become a badge of honor for locals who embrace winter all year long.

“New Jersey is loud, proud, and unapologetically bold just like skiing in jeans,” she said.

This, of course, may be up for debate.

Is it the ultimate I-don’t-care-what-you-think move – or an example of I-don’t-have-a-clue-as-to-what-I’m-supposed-to-do?

Only this much is clear: If you want to ski in the summer – when a heat dome is covering the Northeast – Big SNOW is the only place you can go.

Operated by New Jersey-based SNOW Partners, it is the first facility of its kind within the United States and Canada, offering action for aspiring and existing skiers and snowboarders as well as snow-curious guests varied on-snow experiences.

The 180,000-square-foot, 16-story, climate-controlled venue boasts 4 acres of snow-covered slopes that are 1,000 feet in length and feature 160-foot vertical drop with a graduated degree of pitch ranging from 0% at the base to 26% at its steepest point.

Missed the big day?

No worries. Big SNOW will be open all summer. Whether you show up in jeans is up to you.
