Just months before its inaugural flight from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), Breeze Airways is already doubling down on South Jersey.
The “premium leisure” carrier announced Tuesday that it will launch nonstop service between Atlantic City and Tampa, Florida, beginning July 1. The new route will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays.
To celebrate the expansion, Breeze is offering introductory one-way fares starting at $79.
The move is a significant vote of confidence in the Atlantic City market. While Breeze’s first flights from ACY aren’t scheduled to depart until May, the airline is already pivoting to capture more of the Shore region’s summer travel demand.
“Atlantic City is one of our newest markets, and we’re excited to already be expanding our service there,” David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways said. He noted that the Tampa route reinforces the airline’s commitment to growing within the South Jersey community.
For local residents, the news means more than just a cheap flight; it represents a strengthening of ACY’s connectivity to the Southeast.
Stephen Dougherty, executive director of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, expressed enthusiasm for the early expansion. “Offering Tampa as a nonstop destination… gives our passengers another convenient travel option,” he said. “We look forward to welcoming the airline’s first flights in May.”
Breeze aims to bridge the gap between low-cost carriers and premium airlines. Travelers on the new Tampa route can expect:
- New Aircraft: Service on the brand-new Airbus A220-300.
- Perks: Fast onboard WiFi and “Nice,” “Nicer,” and “Nicest” bundle options.
- Flexibility: No change or cancellation fees.
- Family-Friendly: Free family seating to ensure groups stay together.
