California’s chicken franchise The Red Chickz expands New Jersey footprint with two new leases and a major development deal

The Red Chickz, the fast-casual hot chicken sensation that puts a bold West Coast twist on Nashville Hot Chicken, is significantly expanding its presence in New Jersey with three new developments. The brand, known for its viral social media success, is continuing its East Coast momentum with the signing of two new leases and a multi-unit development deal across the Garden State.

New locations in Marlton and Ewing

The expansion includes two confirmed leases in key New Jersey markets, each helmed by new franchisees:

  • Marlton: Franchisee Walter Johnson is set to bring The Red Chickz’s signature crunch and crave-worthy flavor to the Marlton community.
  • Ewing: Dynamic duo Kevin Patel and Arpan Patel will introduce the hot chicken concept to Ewing.

Major development deal secures Central Jersey presence

In addition to the new single-unit locations, The Red Chickz has also secured a substantial multi-unit development deal with franchise partner Jordan Modi. This agreement is designed to solidify the brand’s commitment to Central New Jersey by targeting locations in:

  • New Brunswick
  • East Brunswick
  • Edison
  • Metuchen

This development deal cements The Red Chickz’s commitment to growing in the region’s vibrant neighborhoods.

Explosive growth driven by demand

Co-founder and CEO Shawn Lalehzarian expressed his excitement about the expansion, stating, “This wave of expansion in New Jersey is a massive moment for our brand.” He added that the state, with its diverse communities and “hunger for bold, quality food,” possesses the perfect ingredients for the company’s next chapter of growth.

The Red Chickz has built a strong following since its 2018 founding in Los Angeles, redefining the fast-casual dining category with a menu that features seven different spice levels of Nashville Hot Chicken, alongside unconventional items like its Honey Butter Sandwich and French Toast Chicken Sandwich.

These latest New Jersey agreements build on an already robust East Coast push, contributing to a national pipeline that now includes over 45 locations in development across various states. The brand attributes its rapid growth to its strong product, viral brand power, and the quality of its entrepreneurial franchise partners.
