CarePlus NJ, a leading nonprofit provider of integrated health care, has officially expanded its “Same-Day Access” network into Morris County. The new walk-in location in Morris Plains is designed to eliminate the long wait times and referral hurdles that often prevent residents from receiving timely mental health and substance use support.
The site joins CarePlus NJ’s existing walk-in hubs in Rochelle Park and Bloomfield, further cementing the organization’s role as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) dedicated to person-centered care.
Located at 520 Speedwell Avenue, the center offers immediate clinical assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. By removing the requirement for a prior appointment or a doctor’s referral, the facility aims to catch behavioral health issues in their early stages.
“Families often reach out when they notice changes in behavior, mood, or functioning and are unsure where to turn,” Rebecca Oelkers, vice president of Clinical Services at CarePlus NJ said. “Same-Day Access allows individuals and caregivers to meet with a clinician right away and leave with a clear understanding of recommended services.”
The expansion comes as New Jersey continues to face a high demand for accessible community-based mental health services. Early intervention is a cornerstone of the CarePlus model, as it often reduces the need for emergency room visits or more intensive, long-term hospitalizations.
Key details for the Morris Plains location:
- Address: 520 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ
- Hours of operation: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Services: In-person clinical assessments, crisis guidance, and direct connection to long-term behavioral health or substance use programs.
As a CCBHC, CarePlus NJ provides more than just therapy; they offer a “whole-person” approach that integrates primary care with behavioral health and substance use disorder services. This ensures that patients in Morris Plains aren’t just getting an assessment but are being funneled into a comprehensive system of care that addresses both physical and mental well-being.
“By offering same-day clinical evaluation and guidance, we are helping families address concerns sooner and reduce uncertainty,” Oelkers added.
