Icelandirect, LLC, a leading contract manufacturer for human and pet supplements, officially announced the acquisition of SOMA LABS, a specialist in solid dosage form production. The deal, which closed in February 2026, marks a massive leap in capability for the Clifton-headquartered firm.

The acquisition allows Icelandirect—a portfolio company of New Heritage Capital—to transform from a specialist in lipids and softgels into a comprehensive, turnkey manufacturing powerhouse.

Before the merger, Icelandirect was primarily recognized for its leadership in marine-derived ingredients and softgel encapsulation. By absorbing SOMA LABS, the company adds four critical manufacturing capabilities to its roster:

  • Powders: Custom blending and flexible packaging, ranging from individual stick packs to bulk pouches.
  • Capsules: Production of hard-shell capsules for both human and pet health markets.
  • Tablets: High-precision compressed tablet manufacturing for wellness brands.
  • Chewables: Palatable delivery formats designed for both the nutraceutical and animal health sectors.

“The acquisition of SOMA LABS will allow us to add powder, tablet, capsule, and chewable capabilities, thus delivering a turnkey product offering to our clients,” Brandon Miller, CEO of Icelandirect said. “These new offerings allow us to take a brand from ingredient and formula all the way through to finished, shelf-ready product.”

The move is a significant win for the New Jersey industrial landscape. SOMA LABS will continue to operate as an integrated division of Icelandirect, and its New Jersey facility will remain fully operational.

By keeping production local, Icelandirect aims to ensure a seamless transition for existing SOMA LABS clients while providing them access to Icelandirect’s advanced logistics and supply chain resources. The technical and leadership teams from both organizations are currently undergoing integration to align quality systems and customer service functions.

The timing of the acquisition aligns with surging demand in the pet supplement market, which has seen rapid growth as owners seek high-quality, “human-grade” functional chews and powders for their animals.

With its expanded infrastructure, Icelandirect is now positioned as a one-stop-shop for brands looking to scale quickly in both the human nutrition and pet wellness categories. The company’s specialization in Omega-3 formulations and marine ingredients remains a core pillar, now bolstered by the ability to deliver those nutrients in a wider variety of consumer-friendly formats.
