Dr. Samantha Cohen, who offers comprehensive primary care and has special interests in women’s health, gynecological care and preventive cancer screenings, has joined the LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.
Cohen is a board-certified family medicine physician and received her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Overlook Medical Center in New Jersey.
As a queer provider, Dr. Cohen brings a personal understanding of the unique challenges and experiences faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
Bergen New Bridge CEO Deb Visconi welcomed her to the team.
“Five years ago, we opened the LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Center which has become an important and essential health care resource,” she said. “Dr. Cohen joins an incredible team and will help us to further develop a healthcare experience where the LGBTQ+ community feel safe, welcomed, and do not fear stigma as we address their physical health needs as well as mental health and wellness.”
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, a clinical affiliate of Rutgers, is a 1,070-bed hospital located in Paramus. The Medical Center is both the largest hospital and licensed nursing home in the state and the fourth largest, publicly owned hospital in the nation.
