Woodbridge-based Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, New Jersey’s only medical professional liability insurer owned and governed by its physicians, on Monday announced the appointment of Brian Kriger as incoming president of Conventus and NIP Management Co. Kriger will succeed Amy Berezein on Jan. 1, 2026, following a planned transition period to ensure a smooth handover and continued service for Conventus’ members, brokers, and partners.
Kriger brings over two decades of experience in the medical professional liability (MPL) sector. His most recent role was vice president of Underwriting at EmPRO Insurance, where he spearheaded Northeast expansion and established their New Jersey office. Prior to that, he spent 17 years at MDAdvantage in various roles spanning underwriting, operations, policyholder services, and rate/form management.
Berezein, who has led Conventus since 2012, expressed her confidence in Kriger.
“Brian’s deep technical expertise, broker relationships, and operational discipline are exactly what we need to support our physician members in an evolving health care landscape,” she said. “It has been my privilege to serve Conventus and our members, and I am confident Brian shares our commitment to service, integrity, and long-term relationships.”
Kriger emphasized his enthusiasm for joining Conventus, highlighting its unique physician-owned structure.
“Our physician-owned structure means every decision is made with members’ best interests at heart,” he stated. “I look forward to working closely with our team, brokers, and partners to deliver exceptional protection and service.”
