Genova Burns is expanding its legal team with the addition of three new associates: Kevin Stawicki, R. Edward Stone, and Michael Thurm. Pending their bar admissions, the three recent law school graduates are set to strengthen the firm’s depth across key practice areas, including litigation, labor and employment and corporate compliance.
The new associates bring a wide range of experience to the firm.
Stawicki joins Genova Burns with a background in government and legal journalism. His past roles include serving as an Eagleton Fellow in the Counsel’s Office of New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, working in the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, and holding a judicial internship in the Office of the Counselor to Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. at the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to his legal studies, Stawicki was a legal affairs journalist, covering litigation and employment law.
Stone is a familiar face at the firm, having previously served as a law clerk at Genova Burns. A graduate of Rutgers Law School, Stone contributed to matters in bankruptcy, political compliance, and civil litigation. His academic and extracurricular achievements at Kean University and Rutgers Law School, along with his athletic pursuits, highlight his dedication and leadership.
Thurm brings nearly a decade of corporate experience to his legal career. Before pursuing his law degree at Drexel University’s Kline School of Law, Thurm held positions at major financial institutions including BNY Mellon, JPMorgan Chase, Accenture, and BP America. While in law school, he gained practical experience in commercial litigation and served as an editor of the Drexel Law Review.
James Burns, managing partner of Genova Burns, expressed his excitement about the new hires.
“Kevin, Ed, and Michael represent the future of our firm,” Burns stated. “Each of them brings a unique blend of talent, dedication, and perspective that will help us continue to serve our clients with excellence. They are bright stars in the next generation of attorneys at Genova Burns, and we are excited to support their careers as they grow with us.”
