Holy Name launches new neuroendovascular institute

Holy Name has launched the Dr. Douglas M. Noble, Neuroendovascular Institute, expanding its stroke treatment, neurovascular care and complex neurosurgical services.

The institute will use the Siemens Artis icono biplane system, which produces dual-angle imaging of the brain and spine during procedures. The technology allows physicians to visualize blood vessels in detail while reducing radiation exposure and contrast dye use compared with older systems.

With the addition of a new biplane angiography system, the hospital can now provide a range of neurovascular and spine procedures, including:

  • Emergency stroke thrombectomy
  • Treatment of intracranial and extracranial aneurysms
  • Embolization of arteriovenous malformations and dural arteriovenous fistulas
  • Carotid and intracranial stenting
  • Tumor embolization
  • Middle meningeal artery embolization for chronic subdural hematomas
  • Spinal tumor and fistula embolization
  • Management of complex intracranial hemorrhage
  • Diagnostic cerebral and spinal angiography

The program will combine Holy Name’s neurologists and interventional specialists with physicians from Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

“This investment expands the level of neurological care available at Holy Name,” Mike Maron, the hospital’s CEO, said.
