Origin
Established in 1978 as the Mid-Bergen Community Mental Health Center, CarePlus New Jersey was founded to make community-based mental health care accessible in Bergen County. After merging with Fair Lawn Mental Health Center in 1998, it became CarePlus NJ, Inc., expanding integrated services across northern New Jersey.

CarePlus New Jersey provides affordable, accessible and holistic care in mental health, addiction recovery and community-based services. For nearly 50 years, CarePlus New Jersey has empowered individuals and families to reach their full potential and improve quality of life. Its vision is to be New Jersey’s premier provider of integrated wellness for individuals, families and communities.
Key programs
- Integrated behavioral health & addiction recovery: Comprehensive mental health, substance use and primary care services, including the CLIMB program for co-occurring disorders and medication-assisted treatment
- Youth & family support services: School-based counseling, prevention initiatives and 24/7 Children’s Mobile Response crisis intervention for children and teens
- Maternal and family center: Specialized mental health care for women and families before, during and after pregnancy, offering counseling, medication management and support for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders

The CarePlus New Jersey Courage Awards Annual Gala each year serves as a cornerstone event supporting CarePlus New Jersey’s mission to expand access to integrated behavioral health care.
