Johnson & Johnson on Tuesday announced that John Morikis, the retired chairman, president, and chief executive officer of The Sherwin-Williams Company, has been elected to its board of directors. Morikis brings four decades of experience as a leader in a large multinational corporation.

Morikis began his career at Sherwin-Williams in 1984 and advanced through various leadership roles before serving as CEO for eight years. During his tenure, he led a strategic transformation that reinforced the company’s market leadership, expanded its global presence to 123 countries, and focused on technology and innovation to enhance customer experience. His leadership helped lead to Sherwin-Williams’ inclusion in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Morikis said he has “long admired Johnson & Johnson for its innovation, leadership in healthcare and commitment to patients around the world.” He added that he is honored to join the board and looks forward to working with the company to support its long-term strategy and create value for shareholders.
Currently, Morikis also serves on the Boards of Directors for United Parcel Service, Inc., General Mills, Inc., and Whirlpool Corporation.
