Laura Fredricks, a globally recognized philanthropic advisor, motivational speaker, attorney and best-selling author, has been appointed to the Board of The Deborah Hospital Foundation.
Fredricks is the founder and CEO of her own consulting firm, where she advises a select group of nonprofits and businesses on effective fundraising strategies—especially during complex capital and major gift campaigns.
Fredricks is no stranger to Deborah. In the 1990s, she launched the hospital’s major gifts program, growing it from $50,000 to $6 million in just two years. Her connection to Deborah, and her impact on its philanthropic development, make this appointment particularly meaningful.
“It is a tremendous honor to welcome Laura back to the Deborah family,” Jim Andrews, president and CEO of Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Deborah Hospital Foundation said. “Laura is a national thought leader in philanthropy and fundraising with a unique history with our institution. Her knowledge, passion and commitment to excellence will be an invaluable asset to our Board as we advance Deborah’s mission.”
Beyond Deborah, Fredricks’ distinguished career includes serving as Vice President of Development at Temple University, where she oversaw fundraising for two hospitals, 15 schools and colleges and the athletic department. She and her team were instrumental in securing the groundwork for the $25 million naming of the university’s medical school. She has also led fundraising at Pace University, raising $100 million during a six-year post-9/11 campaign.
Fredricks is the author of seven influential books on philanthropy and communication, including Hard Asks Made Easy: How to Get Exactly What You Want, which has received top rankings on Amazon. She is also a sought-after media expert and educator, serving as an adjunct professor at New York University since 2005.
“It is an extraordinary privilege to join the Deborah Hospital Foundation Board,” Fredricks said. “Deborah has always held a special place in my heart. I’m excited to contribute to its continued growth and help expand its vital mission of delivering outstanding heart, lung and vascular care.”
