LuminoCity Festival roars back to Freehold Raceway Mall

The LuminoCity Festival is set to make its highly anticipated return to the Freehold Raceway Mall for the third consecutive year, bringing its immersive Dino Safari event to the public from Sept. 19 to Oct. 25.

The festival, a “wholly immersive experience,” will feature more than 70 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs and hundreds of light sculptures. According to Xiaoyi Chen, the founder of LuminoCity, this year’s event includes several new additions, such as new animatronics, an expanded “Bounce Zone” with new inflatables, a larger kiddie play area, and an LED dance floor.

Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including the Safari Dig and Fossil Hunt, where aspiring paleontologists can search for treasures. The event will also feature a food and relaxation zone with offerings from local food trucks.

In addition to the main attractions, the festival will host unique themed events, including a “Back to School Opening Night,” a “Jurassic Fam Jam!” for National Family Day, and a “Dino-o-ween” costumed showdown for Halloween. Attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes, take photos, and purchase dino-themed souvenirs from Lumi’s Gift Shop.

The festival will be located in the parking lot near Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Freehold Raceway Mall. Parking is free. Tickets can be purchased online here or on-site. The festival is a woman and minority-owned organization that blends the tradition of Chinese lantern making with contemporary art to create its stunning light sculptures.
