Mandelbaum Barrett and IMG Business Advisors represent White Plains Linen in $50M+ sale

Mandelbaum Barrett PC, a law firm based in Roseland, announced its role as lead counsel for White Plains Linen in the sale of its business and two properties in Peekskill, New York, to Surge Private Equity LLC. The complex deal, which closed Aug. 1, was valued at over $50 million.

White Plains Linen, a family-owned business since 1938, is a major player in the tri-state area’s hospitality industry, providing linen rental services to a vast clientele, including several Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City. The company delivers more than 1 million pounds of linens each week and is the largest employer in Peekskill.

This transaction represents the first time WPL has partnered with an outside entity to scale its operations. Bruce Botchman, who has led the business for the last three decades, retains a percentage of ownership and will continue in a senior advisory role.

The Mandelbaum Barrett legal team was led by Peter Tanella, and included Steven Sedereas, Eileen Funnell, Nicole Fryer, Brent Pohlman and Shawn McClelland. Meanwhile, Michael Givner of Morristown-based IMG Business Advisors served as the lead broker/advisor.

Surge Private Equity’s acquisition of WPL is its sixth in the New York City commercial services space. With its active involvement in the industry, Surge intends to work with WPL to drive continued growth and maintain the high standard of service for which WPL is known.
