Marquis Health Consulting Services, a leading administrative provider for the skilled nursing and senior living sectors, has announced the appointment of Joseph DeMattos as senior vice president of Public Affairs.
A nationally recognized health care policy expert and advocate, DeMattos joins the Brick-based organization at a time of strategic growth across its eight-state footprint along the Eastern Seaboard.
DeMattos brings decades of high-level experience to Marquis, having previously served as President and CEO of the Health Facilities Association of Maryland (HFAM). His career also includes significant leadership roles at AARP, where he spearheaded national campaigns for Social Security and Medicare prescription drug benefits.
In his new role, DeMattos will spearhead stakeholder engagement, advising executive leadership on:
- Public Policy & Government Relations: Navigating the complex regulatory landscape of long-term care.
- External Engagement: Strengthening ties with industry associations and community leaders.
- Strategic Communications: Elevating the reputation and influence of the organization within the post-acute care sector.

Beyond his consulting work, DeMattos serves as a visiting professor at the Erickson School of Management of Aging Services at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where he was previously named National Part-Time Adjunct Professor of the Year by the Gerontological Society of America.
