Monmouth Park Racetrack, a historic icon of the Jersey Shore and the birthplace of legal sports betting in New Jersey, has dramatically expanded its offerings with the grand opening of the all-new trackside Caesars Sportsbook. The state-of-the-art, standalone venue, completed in partnership with Caesars Entertainment, was celebrated this week with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by local dignitaries and leadership from Caesars Entertainment and Monmouth Park.
The new facility is poised to solidify Monmouth Park and the city of Oceanport’s position as a premier entertainment and gaming destination in the Garden State, drawing both racing aficionados and sports wagering fans.
The completion of the new sportsbook marks a significant milestone in Monmouth Park’s journey. The Oceanport venue made history in 2018 when it accepted New Jersey’s first legal in-person sports wager following a landmark Supreme Court decision (a legal battle championed by Monmouth Park’s leadership).
Dennis Drazin, chairman and CEO of Darby Development LLC, the operators of Monmouth Park Racetrack, noted that the new facility is the culmination of years of work.
“This has been a long time in the making, and it’s satisfying to finally see it come to fruition as we continue the expansion of the Monmouth Park facility as a top entertainment and gaming destination in the State,” said Drazin.
The investment is seen not only as a benefit to sports betting but also as a way to sustain the state’s horse racing industry.
