The New Jersey Civil Justice Institute (NJCJI), the state’s sole organization dedicated to shielding businesses and taxpayers from excessive litigation, today announced that Elissa Frank will take on the role of its next president.
Frank joins the organization with a robust background in public policy and legislative affairs, having most recently served as the vice president of Government Affairs at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA). In that role, she led advocacy efforts on critical employer and labor law issues. Her experience also includes serving as Executive Director of Focus NJ, a nonpartisan economic research nonprofit.
“I am deeply grateful to the Board of Directors for selecting and entrusting me to lead the New Jersey Civil Justice Institute as President,” Frank said. She added that she is excited to “promote fairness, balance, and accountability in New Jersey’s civil justice system.”
In her new position, Frank will lead NJCJI’s advocacy strategy, build coalitions, and serve as the organization’s chief spokesperson. She will collaborate with the business community and lawmakers to advance NJCJI’s mission of keeping New Jersey a competitive place to live, work, and do business.
Scott Hobson, chair of the NJCJI Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in the new appointment.” Elissa brings to this role a combination of sharp legal insight, policy acumen, and a deep commitment to a fair and just civil litigation system,” Hobson said. He noted that her leadership is “exactly what we need to advance common sense reforms and protect the state’s economy” at a time when New Jersey’s liability climate is contributing to higher costs.
