NJEDA selects SOSA to operate ‘NJ BASE’ landing pad for international tech companies in Jersey City

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) Board has approved SOSA USA LLC as the operator for the new New Jersey Business Acceleration and Softlanding Ecosystem (NJ BASE). Located in downtown Jersey City, NJ BASE is the state’s first dedicated facility designed to attract and support foreign companies looking to expand into the U.S. market.

The landing pad will offer a supportive co-working environment, marketing services, and strategic resources to help international businesses establish and grow their presence in the Garden State.

“The NJEDA is excited to partner with SOSA on launching NJ BASE and welcoming foreign companies to the Garden State,” Tim Sullivan, NJEDA chief executive officer said. “NJ BASE will strengthen our state’s position on the global stage by helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses, foster innovation, and build lasting international partnerships.”

Focusing on key technology sectors

NJ BASE is strategically focused on attracting international companies in industries critical to New Jersey’s economy. These sectors include:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Fintech
  • Other innovative technologies and services

The center is designed to provide businesses with a foothold in New Jersey and access to the larger U.S. market, enabling them to expand operations, attract investment, and create high-quality, long-term jobs locally.

SOSA brings global expertise

Following a competitive review process, the NJEDA awarded the operating contract to SOSA for an initial term of three years, with two optional one-year extensions. SOSA, a leading global technology and innovation consulting firm, has more than a decade of experience running over 40 international accelerator and landing programs worldwide.

“SOSA is proud to partner with the NJEDA to launch and operate NJ BASE, New Jersey’s first landing pad for innovative, technology-driven international companies,” Uzi Scheffer, CEO of SOSA said. “Building on over a decade of experience… we’ll help international companies land, forge commercial relationships, and scale in New Jersey.”

SOSA’s proven track record includes successfully accelerating startups from 12 countries. The firm will collaborate with leading international companies and key players across the state’s economy to drive commercial success and strengthen New Jersey’s global standing as an innovation hub.

Prime Jersey City location

The NJ BASE facility will be located at 3 Second Street in Jersey City, a prime downtown location with close proximity to public transit. The Class A office space spans more than 7,200 square feet and will include essential amenities such as conference facilities and event space. The center is expected to house a first cohort of approximately 15 to 20 companies and is slated to open in the coming months.

Wes Mathews, president & CEO of Choose New Jersey, emphasized the state’s growing appeal. “New Jersey continues to strengthen its reputation as a premier destination for international companies seeking to enter the U.S. market,” he said. “NJ BASE will provide foreign businesses with the tools, connections, and resources they need to thrive here, while further deepening New Jersey’s global partnerships and driving long-term economic growth.”
