One of the most recognizable hotels in the Meadowlands region is getting a new name – and a new look.
As first reported in Real Estate–NJ, the 21-story, 427-room building off Route 3 in East Rutherford at 2 Meadowlands Plaza (formerly a Sheraton and Hilton property) has been purchased by P3 Properties.
In addition to a coming multi-million-dollar upgrade of the property, the entity also will have a new name: World of Blue.
The rebranding (which aligns the hotel to over P3 properties and services) comes right before the world biggest sporting event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, come to the U.S. MetLife Stadium will host eight matches, including the final.
P3 Properties will quickly begin making several structural and aesthetic upgrades, such as major improvements to HVAC systems, elevators and building infrastructure, as well as a comprehensive modernization of the interiors.
The hotel, built in 1986 and renovated in 2019, is well known to the business community as it has 30,000 square feet of conference and meeting space and a five-acre surface parking lot and is adjacent to the well-known Metropolitan Center office building. It is less than a mile from the N.J. Turnpike.
Harvey Rosenblatt, founder of Clifton-based P3 Properties, told Real Estate-NJ, that the opportunity to grab such a landmark occasion was a dream.
“This is one of those locations that, if you live nearby, you just understand,” he said. “The proximity to MetLife Stadium, the American Dream complex, Newark Liberty International Airport — it’s a powerful convergence point. When the opportunity came our way, it immediately stood out.”
