Pennrose celebrates grand opening of 76-unit affordable housing community in Moorestown

Pennrose and its partners on Tuesday celebrated the grand opening of Residences at Harper, a new 76-unit affordable family housing community in Moorestown. The development is 100% affordable, with all units reserved for families earning between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Located at the intersection of East Gate and Harper drives, the four-story building offers a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. The community was developed in response to a need for more affordable rental options in the area and serves as Moorestown’s first larger-scale Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) community for families. Five units are designated for formerly homeless individuals and families, and several units are designed to be accessible to residents with physical, hearing, or vision impairments.

“Today’s milestone reminds us that real change happens one community at a time,” Jacob Fisher, regional vice president at Pennrose said. “More than 70 families will now have access to high-quality affordable housing, community amenities, and robust supportive services.”

Residents will have access to a variety of on-site amenities, including a community room, fitness center, outdoor playground, and laundry facilities. The energy-efficient apartments feature modern kitchens with Energy Star appliances, keyless entry, and central A/C.

Moorestown Mayor Quinton Law highlighted the importance of the new development for the community.

“It’s critical that working families have the opportunity to live in the very community they help make stronger every day,” he said.

The project was made possible through a collaboration of state and local entities, including the New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Finance Agency, Burlington County’s HOME Program, and Moorestown Township. The National Low-Income Housing Coalition reports that New Jersey is facing a shortage of more than 200,000 affordable homes, making projects like this critical for addressing the housing crisis.
