Quest Diagnostics appoints Benjamin Beauvalot as chief strategy and M&A officer

Quest Diagnostics, a leader in diagnostic information services, announced Thursday the appointment of Benjamin Beauvalot as senior vice president, chief strategy and M&A officer.

A veteran of the health care and life sciences sectors, Beauvalot joins the Secaucus-based executive team with more than 20 years of experience in business transformation and corporate development. He will report directly to Jim Davis, chairman, CEO, and president of Quest Diagnostics.

In his new role, Beauvalot will oversee the company’s overarching growth strategy, including:

  • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): Identifying and executing strategic domestic and international deals.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Developing collaborations across the healthcare ecosystem.
  • Business Integration: Ensuring seamless transitions for acquired entities to maximize organic growth.

“Ben has an extensive track record of delivering successful growth and transformation strategies for world-class health care organizations,” Davis said. “His leadership will advance Quest’s opportunities to generate both organic and acquisitive growth.”

Beauvalot’s career is marked by leadership roles at some of the industry’s most influential firms:

  • Danaher Corporation: Served as VP and Head of Business Development for the biotechnology and genomics segments.
  • Patheon: Led strategy and corporate development prior to the company’s high-profile acquisition by Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2017.
  • Banner Life Sciences: Served as VP of Strategy for the specialty pharmaceutical company.

Beauvalot succeeds Dermot Shorten, who is set to retire in the second quarter of 2026. Shorten’s 18-year tenure at Quest was defined by massive expansion; he oversaw nearly 80 business combinations, including approximately 20 acquisitions of hospital outreach laboratories in the last decade alone.

“Dermot played a vital role stewarding our company’s successes… and is leaving us with a solid foundation for creating further growth and value,” Davis added.

Quest Diagnostics is a powerhouse in the New Jersey corporate landscape, serving one in three adult Americans and half of the physicians and hospitals in the U.S. annually. With a workforce of 55,000, the company leverages one of the world’s largest databases of clinical lab results to provide diagnostic insights that transform patient care
