Rider University appoints Mace as VP of Community Engagement

Rider University on Monday announced the appointment of Darryl Mace as its new vice president of community engagement and belonging. Mace brings a distinguished record of leadership and scholarship to the position, with the goal of strengthening relationships across campus and with the broader community.

In his senior-level role, Mace will work to foster meaningful opportunities and experiences that bring students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders together. He comes to Rider from Alvernia University, where he was the inaugural vice president for mission, diversity, and inclusion.

“Dr. Mace has a genuine talent for bringing people together,” John Loyack, president of Rider University said. “His leadership will help us strengthen our community and create new opportunities for connection and collaboration.”

A historian by training, Mace earned his Ph.D. from Temple University, specializing in race and gender in American society. He has authored a book on Emmett Till and numerous academic articles. He is also a noted public intellectual and keynote speaker.

“I am honored to join Rider University and work with everyone, students, faculty and staff, to build collaborative partnerships across campus and in the external community,” Mace stated. His appointment reflects Rider’s continued commitment to fostering a welcoming and connected environment for all.
