Rowan, in full growth mode, welcomes largest freshman class ever (3,400 students)

Rowan University has long made its mark in South Jersey. Apparently, the word is getting out across the country, too.

Last week, Rowan welcomed its largest freshman class in school history, 3,400, from a school-record 26,000 applications.

More than that, Rowan received applications from students in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and 118 countries around the world.

If Rowan President Ali Houshmand has his way, this is just the start.

In 2024, Houshmand said he intends for the school to dramatically increase its enrollment — to 38,500 by 2033 — while dramatically increasing its capital expansion ($1.5 billion in new projects in the next decade).

All of this will help the school, already a driver of economic activity in the region, to an estimated $4.4 billion in economic impact.
