Sika Corporation on Friday celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art 250,000-
square-foot mortar production plant in Upper Deerfield Township in Cumberland County
– while making a statement about manufacturing in the process.
The plant, located approximately 45 miles west of Atlantic City, opened last fall. It now
serves as the Northeast Anchor site for Sika, a Swiss multinational specialty chemical
company that supplies to the building and motor vehicle industries.
The plant, which brought more than four dozen jobs to the area, produces a full range of
mortars including high-performance cementitious grouts, self-leveling mortars and
mixes for shotcrete which include products for residential and commercial construction
applications.

Jim Walther, Sika Corporation USA CEO, said the company is thrilled to be making such an impact.
“This new investment into our supply chain and manufacturing footprint is a testament to
our unwavering commitment to the Northeast Region and the surrounding areas of the United States as a prime production hub,” he said. “This strategic move is poised to
bolster Sika’s leadership position in providing innovative construction solutions to our valued customers.”
Sika made the investment in the site to handle the increasing volume demand within the
proximity to major strategic metropolitan markets, with a long-term strategy to expand
technology product lines to extend reach into our markets.
Sika has subsidiaries in 103 countries around the world with 400 factories and 33,000
employees. The company generated sales of CHF 11.2 billion ($12.5 billion) in 2023.
