The first Spanish-language broadcast of the annual preseason game between the Giants and Jets will be broadcast on Telemundo 47/WNJU, the team, the network and WNBC announced Thursday.
The game, dubbed the “MetLife Bowl,” will be held Aug. 16.
The broadcast will air live on Telemundo 47’s over-the-air and digital platforms and will feature national broadcast announcers Miguel Gurwitz and Rolando Cantú, the hosts of Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and NBC Sunday Night Football on Telemundo Deportes / UNIVERSO.
Cristina Schwarz, president and General Manager of Telemundo 47/WNJU, was thrilled to make the announcement.
“This is a milestone moment,” she said. “We are thrilled to bring the Giants-Jets preseason game to Telemundo 47 viewers for the first time, all in the language they prefer and on the platforms they know and trust.
“Our audience have long awaited the opportunity to cheer on the Giants en Español – and on August 16, that moment finally arrives.”
During the game, Gurwitz and Cantú will be joined from the sidelines by Telemundo 47 sports anchor Veronica Contreras, a seasoned sideline reporter who has covered NFL regular season and postseason games for Telemundo Deportes/ UNIVERSO. Contreras will also provide expert commentary in Spanish.
