Tinton Falls tech giant Commvault unveils major cybersecurity integration with CrowdStrike

Commvault, the Tinton Falls-based leader in enterprise-scale data resilience, announced a significant expansion of its partnership with cybersecurity titan CrowdStrike on Wednesday.

The new bi-directional integration links the Commvault Cloud platform directly with CrowdStrike Falcon® Next-Gen SIEM (Security Information and Event Management). By sharing real-time “telemetry”—or digital health signals—between the two platforms, the integration aims to solve one of the biggest headaches in IT: ensuring that when a company restores its data after a cyberattack, it isn’t accidentally “restoring” the virus along with it.

Historically, security teams (SecOps) and IT recovery teams have worked in separate silos, often using different tools that don’t talk to each other. This gap can lead to “reinfection,” where an organization recovers its data only to find the attacker still has a backdoor into the system.

The new integration changes the game by:

  • Streaming AI Alerts: Commvault now sends its AI-powered anomaly alerts—such as suspicious file changes or massive data deletions—directly into the CrowdStrike Falcon dashboard.
  • Verifying “Clean” Backups: Security teams can now see the integrity of backup data from within their own security console, helping them identify exactly which recovery point is safe to use.
  • Synthetic Recovery™: By combining CrowdStrike’s threat intelligence with Commvault’s scanning, companies can verify that data is “clean” before it ever hits the production environment.

“Driving clean and trusted recoveries is now a business imperative,” Pranay Ahlawat, chief technology and AI officer at Commvault said. “We’re making it easier for security and IT teams to collaborate and make informed recovery decisions that keep organizations moving.”

As hackers increasingly use AI to move faster, the window for recovery is shrinking. This partnership focuses on three core areas:

Feature Impact
Unified Telemetry Eliminates “context switching” between tools, saving precious time during an active breach.
Blast-Radius Assessment Quickly identifies which files were touched by an attacker and which remain safe.
Safe Recovery Workflows Integrates Commvault’s “Cleanroom Recovery” concepts with CrowdStrike’s elite incident response.

The integration is available now at no additional charge for existing customers. It can be activated through the CrowdStrike Marketplace, allowing New Jersey enterprises and global firms alike to bridge the gap between their security and backup strategies immediately.
